About the Department

The department existed as two separate departments, departments of Fine Arts and department of Applied Arts, under the defunct Faculty of Creative Arts before their merger in 1987 as the Department of  Fine and Applied Arts. There are 7 units or areas of specialisation, namely :

There are also general courses that students are required to include in their registration and these are:

  • Drawing
  • Art Education
  • Art History
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
  • Photography

After completion of Year II, the student will select, together with a course adviser, an area of specialisation and take prescribed number of units.

Aim and Objectives
The academic programme which provides for single honour B.A degree is designed to cater for diverse academic and creative interests of students and to prepare them for various professional and administrative job opportunities.
